PET Scan

Positron Emission Tomography

Critical functional imaging for observing metabolic processes, primarily used in oncology, neurology, and cardiology.

Metabolic Insight

A PET scan uses a safe, radioactive drug (radiotracer) to show how your tissues and organs are functioning on a cellular level. It can sometimes detect disease before it shows up on other imaging tests.

Most often used to evaluate cancer, determine if it has spread, or assess how well it's responding to treatment, our high-resolution PET/CT scanners provide the crucial data your oncologists need.

Crucial Preparation Steps

Because PET scans measure metabolism (often blood sugar uptake), preparation is extremely important:

  • Fast for at least 4-6 hours before the scan (water is allowed).
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours prior to the exam.
  • If diabetic, please consult with us regarding your insulin protocol.
